Relaxing at Negros Oriental

Arriving in Dumaguete. Its more fun in the Philippines!
This was a much anticipated vacation since I booked the flight more than a month in advance and I was going to be with my former colleagues in APAC. It was also nerve wracking since the week before the trip, it was raining hard and was even declared the end of summer already. It was a blessing that we had nice weather during the trip our departure at Manila. We arrived in Dumaguete airport and immediately took a picture (our plane at the background). From there, our van was already waiting for us to bring us to the resort. The trip from the airport to the resort took a while since Antulang is located in baranggay Siaton which is a little far from Dumaguete city. The trip was worth the wait since Antulang Beach Resort was awesome. Once we got there, the sight blew us away since it is situated 40 feet above the beach which gives everyone a spectacular view of the sea. I was also excited about our own outdoor jacuzzi in the room!

The first thing that we did when we arrived there was to eat lunch since everyone was starving already. The food options were a little limited and the prices were a little expensive. Also, it took a while for the resort to prepare and serve the food, thus making us super hungry by the time it was served. (Tip 1: Pre-order your food. You can call in about your order an hour before your actual dinner so you won't starve when you're at the restaurant already).

The resort was very laid back and relaxing, there's no night life and you'll be lulled to sleep by the waves. After lunch, we changed into our beach clothes and checked out the beach. The waters were clear and very inviting although it was kinda rocky and I even got myself injured since my foot got cut by one of the jagged corals (Tip 2: make sure to bring a first aid kid which includes bandages).

After checking out the beach, we decided to lounge at Antulang's salt water infinity pool (Yes salt water, the resort pumps in the water from the sea every morning). The pool also has a 15 ft deep scuba practice area for people who want to explore Negros' rich marine life. Other than the pool, we were equally excited to try the outdoor jacuzzi in our room that overlooks the ocean.

The next day, the group took almost a 1 km hike going to another resort, Kookoo's Nest to further explore Negros Oriental and to take in the laid back provincial life. The resort is quaint and the rooms are composed of native huts which were very nice. Although it was a long walk, it was a leisurely one, seeing the provincial landscapes of the town. Some of my friends even got fruit from the trees and ate it on the way, talk about an instant snack. Once we got there, first thing on our mind was breakfast. The resort offers a wide array of food selections are are reasonably priced. With that, we did have a little food trip when we were there. Apart from the food, the beach was also nice and sandy.

If you want to try and explore the marine life, the resort also has life vests and snorkeling gear that you can rent. After lunch we decided to head back to Antulang following the same path that we took. The group enjoyed the beautiful salt water infinity pool of the resort for the rest of the day and took more pictures. To cap of the day, we had a massage which was done n the privacy of our very own veranda. It was very relaxing, just the sound of the waves and the sound of the different birds and insects, I almost fell asleep. I even saw fireflies in the tree of our room.

We caped our trip by stopping by Dumaguete first to buy some pasalubong (the very famous sans rival cakes) There are plenty of sea side grills that you can choose from which offers fresh seafood. We had our fill and surprised that our bill wasn't as expensive as we expected. For my souvenir, after lunch, I went to a store that sells imported items and got myself a Steve Madden. Now that bag will always remind me of the fun weekend I had in Negros Oriental.
