John Hancock Observatory with my niece and nephew |
Since I was in Arizona for 3 weeks, my mom, dad and sister planned weekend getaways so I can visit them in San Francisco and Chicago. Since I spent my 1st weekend in the bay area, it was now time to spend my 2nd weekend with my sister at the windy city, Chicago. My flight was kinda late already and I arrived in Chicago around midnight already (I lost a couple of hours because of the time zone difference. I had to sleep immediately since we will be having another busy day tomorrow plus I was already tired and exhausted. Everyone woke up early and I was actually the first one to get dressed, probably because of my excitement.
Since my sister was living outside the city, seeing the downtown and the skyline as we approached even made me more excited.
Our first stop was Navy Pier. There were a lot of things to do (like take pictures!) and we started with an architectural tour of the city by boat. It was very hot during that day and we all cooked under the sun while the tour went on but no one was complaining since everyone was having a good time. The tour gave everyone great facts about the buildings and Chicago.

After the tour, we got an early lunch before heading out to Millennium Park and to take more pictures. First stop in the park is Cloud Gate which is a large stainless steel structure that reflects the city around it. A lot of tourists were there since it was a very interesting piece.

After Cloud Gate, we took pictures at Jay Pritzker Pavilion which is an outdoor concert site.

Another crowd attraction at the park was the Crown Fountain. Its two towering blocks standing side by side with water flowing from the top. What makes the fountain interesting is that images are projected from it, specifically faces of people and the cool part is that when the faces also shoot water from their mouths. A lot of people were in the fountain and it was also a great place to cool of from the sun. My niece and nephew enjoyed playing by the fountain with the other kids.

After getting a little wet, we headed to the John Hancock Center to visit the observatory on top of the building. There was a little wait time but I didn’t mind since I was excited to see the city from the top. The view was worth the wait and it was incredible.

After all the sight-seeing, last stop was a very early dinner at the Cheesecake factory.
The next day, I was the first person to wake up and I accidentally set off the alarm of the house, which was a good thing since I woke up my sister. Like any other trip, it will not be complete without shopping and for Sunday’s agenda, my sister will bring me to an outlet mall. Before heading out to the mall, my sister stopped by Portillo’s so I can taste a Chicago hotdog since last night we stopped by for some deep dish pizza before heading home. Most of the shops at the mall were my kinds of brands and all that shopping definitely made a mark on my credit card. After all the shopping, I had to pack everything I got at the parking lot since my sister will bring me to the airport already to catch my flight going back to Arizona. Although short, it was a very nice trip since I got to spend time with my sister’s family.
