My California Vacation: Disneyland

After spending 3 days in San Francisco for the first leg of my US trip, I went to LA to meet up my sister there who is coming in from Chicago to have a vacation. We met up at LAX and we were picked by my cousin who lives there. Our destination for that day is Disneyland but before we go to the happiest place on earth, we stopped by In and Out to grab some lunch. Burgers, heaping serving of fries and a large soda, solb! We arrived in the Disney hotel very excited to settle in and see Disneyland of course. The hotel was nice and I especially liked the toiletries in little bottles that have Disney ears on them. What's more is that there’s free wifi at the room.

I guess I was just as excited as my nephew and niece since I’ve come a long way to experience the original Disneyland. Putting on comfortable shoes, since I know it’s a lot of walking, we headed out for an afternoon of fun. A short walk from the hotel and a ride in the mono rail bring guests to the theme park. The place is a dizzying maze of people, young and old, merchandise and goodies, food and rides. When we got out of the monorail station, there was Buzz Lightyear so he was the 1st Disney character I had a picture with, ever. The first ride that we had was Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters at Tomorrowland where you had to laser tag the aliens to earn points which was a lot of fun. Next ride were the spinning tea cup of Mad Tea Party, which you can make faster by turning the wheel in the middle. It made me a little dizzy since my nephew and niece had a lot of fun time turning the wheel faster and faster. Since we were already at Fantasyland, we rode the Storybook Land ride where we saw miniature replicas of the places in all of the Disney stories and we also we went around the world by riding It's a Small World.

We went over to New Orleans Square and hoped on the Pirates of the Caribbean inspired ride which made my niece a little scared since it was dark inside. After eating an early dinner of chili and fish and chips, my sister and I rode the Big Thunder Mountain railroad roller coaster which was fun and exhilarating, talk about adrenaline rush. We also had time to ride the Disneyland Railroad that goes around the entire park. The night in LA was a little chilly, good thing we had our jackets at hand. Rides, food, fun and a lot of bought merchandise, but the highlight of the night was of course the big fireworks display with a big musical presentation. The display was awesome, you don’t know where to look, you don’t know if you’re gonna take pictures or just experience all that’s going on. It was a definite visual and auditory feast. It was pretty late at night and it was too bad that my nephew already fell asleep while it was going on. Tired but happy, we hauled our bodies back to the hotel. It was already late but I still made sure to upload some pictures in my Facebook.

The next day was another day to explore Disneyland and take some pictures with more Disney characters and collect merchandise. We started the day early and we had an early morning stroll at Downtown Disney. L also became an honorary citizens of Toontown where I got a badge. It’s also in Toontown that I got a free badge for 1st time visitors. Good thing that I had a free lanyard which in turn made me buy more pins to fill it up. I had pictures taken with a lot of Disney characters, Mickey and Miney to name a few.

To cap the morning in Disneyland, we took more pictures at Main Street, U.S.A before we headed out to California Adventure. was to take pictures of course in front of the castle and in front of the Disney theme park entrance. I had a nice time in Disneyland, who said it’s only for kids, its also for grown ups who are kids at heart.
