CNN Tour
After a tiring Saturday at Stone Mountain, we decided to go to one more Atlanta attraction so we can check off everything on our list. Last on our list was to check-out the CNN World Headquarters. Like the Georgia Aquarium, the CNN headquarters can be seen from my window so we decided to exercise and walk.
Since the tour was only for an hour, before you know it, you're done and headed for the gift shop for souvenirs.
After getting our fix of souvenirs, time for more photos.
This shot will definitely be framed and displayed.
After taking pictures at the big sign in front of the building, we went in and bought tickets. Good thing we were just in time or else we would have waited an hour for the next tour. The security was tight and you are kinda like going through airport security. You'll have your bag inspected and no metals/phones while you go through the security. After security, you'll go to the 8th floor through the longest escalator in the world. Imagine riding the escalator from the 1st floor to the 8th.
It took a few minutes so a selfie is a definite must!
The tour is a guided tour and takes about an hour. The first part of the tour is where you will be introduced to the history of CNN and the head quarters. then the guide will explain the whole process of the the program including what goes behind the scenes. You'll hear what the director is saying in the background providing instructions not only to the reporter but for the entire team, telling them when to queue a video or when to have texts appear on the screen.
The tour is also interactive so you have the opportunity to ask questions as well. I didn't have any questions really but a little girl from our group (I guess around 9 years old) had a lot of questions which was cute. There's also audience participation on the part of the tour where they explain the magic of the green screen and how its being used especially in providing the weather forecast with all the graphics being shown on screen.
Part of the tour was also seeing the CNN newsroom and watching a telecast of one of their shows live.
We also saw the offices and the people behind the news hard at work. There's gonna be walking and a lot of going down the stairs (you guessed it, from the 8th floor, you'll coming back down).

After the short tour, I can say that I've checked all the attractions I want to see in Atlanta. Feeling blessed and thankful I get to experience all of them.
