Staycation: Weekend stay at Azumi Boutique Hotel

After a much needed get together lunch with Gracey and Jops, we decided to have a staycation to hang-out a little longer and just get some quality time (meaning to laugh and talk crazy for 24 hours with one another).

Since all of us are huge fans and customers of Deal Grocer, Jops got us a deal for 2 rooms at Azumi Boutique Hotel which was currently being offered in the site. I was happy because almost a year ago, I also stayed at Azumi with Deal Grocer.

One of the things I like about staying at Azumi is the delicious food at Romulo’s. The restaurant gives a modern twist to Filipino cuisine, making the traditional non-traditional. The food is just very good and tasty with prices that are affordable as compared to other hotel restaurants. I also I liked the seating area outside, it was a beautiful day so why not spend it outdoors.

Late lunch at Romulo's
I tried their chicken in tamarind and it was delicious. The chicken was nicely done, the sauce was deliciously tangy and the serving was generous.

After lunch, we checked in our rooms at the 14th floor which gave us views of Alabang as well as Makati from a distance.

Like my last stay, I really like the aesthetics of the room, it’s not really big but it looks spacious because it’s very bright and the layout is simple.

I also like that they have these huge mirrors on the room that makes it look bigger and also perfect for some mirror selfies.

Jops and I were bunked in together and we decided to have Gracey and Rosey’s room as our party room. We got some different wines, some cheese and chips from the grocery and we were ready to get the staycation started.

After some drinking and catching-up, we decided to head-up to enjoy some night swimming at their rooftop pool. The pool closes at 10PM so you can still take that dip and enjoy the night views of the city. One thing I liked that they didn’t have the last time I stayed was this time around, there’s already a pool attendant! Last time we had to call the front desk for some towels to be brought up but this time, somebody was actually there.

After some swimming, it was back to our room for more catching-up and need I say more pictures! Around 2AM, we were already sleepy and was time to call it a night.

We woke up early (we were also hungry because we didn’t have dinner but a very late lunch) to get some breakfast at Romulo’s.

Good morning
Our room didn’t come with breakfast but we had a discount as Deal Grocer customer which was still an OK deal. The breakfast buffet was a little limited (no bacon!!! :( ) and it confused me because there was California Maki for breakfast (maybe people liked sushi in the morning).

After a hearty breakfast, I wanted to have a dip at the pool. The pool for me is one of the highlights of the hotel, it gives you a beautiful view of Alabang and the areas around it. Also, I don’t know any other hotel in Manila that has a pool on the top floor.

One comment I would have though is that I wished they had like fixed umbrellas to give guest some shade from the beaming sun (they do provide umbrellas but you have to hold it for the duration you’re sitting there). Maybe it’s not feasible because of the limited space but I think they can figure something out atleast. Jops, Gracey and Rosey had to squeeze in under an umbrella since they didn’t want any sun while I was enjoying the beautiful weather.

Like any good stay, alas, it was time to check out. Overall, again Azumi has provided an excellent stay for me and my friends. The hotel provides affordable accommodations in a very chic way. Also, Deal Grocer has again provided us with a good deal, that’s why we keep coming back and buying their offers! :)
