Staycation: Jampacked weekend with friends
I like doing staycations, it’s a quick escape w/o leaving
the city. And with more and more hotels and with deals being offered who could
resist right?
My so called travel buddies and I didn’t really have
anything planned for the upcoming memorial Day Holiday (since we service US
clients, we follow US Holidays too), it was too late to plan for an out of town
trip and with limited budget, we decided to do a staycation instead.
Thanks to my favorite delgrocer.com, I was able to purchase
a coupon for a 2 bedroom suite (perfect for the 4 of us) at Y2 Residence Hotel
in Makati.
Purchasing from dealgrocer.com is easy and the reservation
went smoothly as well. Just make sure that you have the coupon/voucher readily
available to be presented. Good thing there’s also a dealgrocer app to store
your vouchers (no more printing).
We booked for an overnight weekend stay and the timing and location couldn’t be more
perfect. The same weekend, I was also having dinner in Makati with friends to
celebrate our friend who was getting married.

There was a snag during the check-in process because 1, they
gave the wrong room, then 2,we waited for our room to be ready for an hour or
more, then 3, once we were in our room, there were maintenance working on a
leaky faucet. Because of this, I politely asked if we can have a late check-out
because of these inconveniences and they happily agreed.
I like that the 2 bedroom suite was huge. We had a large
living area, plus a cute kitchen area (with a fridge, stove, and some
utensils), 2 bathrooms (1 on-suite), and a small balcony.
My comfy bed |
Since we had to work the night before, we spent the
afternoon napping but I had to wake up early because I still had dinner plans
with a different set of friends. After a quick washup, I headed to Dusit Thani.
Heading out to meet friends for dinner |
I was the first one to arrive (I got there 6PM, right when
the dinner buffet opens) and instead of waiting ( and I was super hungry
already) I decided to start eating and just wait for them while I was already
having dinner.

I liked that they have a lot of options ranging from Asian,
Filipino, Meditteranean and Italian. I had to try everything because the food
was delicious. Also, don’t get me started on the desserts because that’s
probably that excites me the most (I definitely have a sweet tooth).
The dessert area |
I was already there for about a good hour when the rest of
my company arrived. We had fun catching up (since it’s been a while since we
last got together), and before we knew it, it was already 9PM (meaning to say I’ve
been there for 3 hours already. Well it was already late (plus I also had
friends that I need to go back to), so we bid our goodbyes and planned another
date on when we’ll have dinner again.

Yin and Yang, one of the quirky touches in the hotel |
The night was young and we arrived just in the club just in time. It was very crowded, I could barely get my drinks from the bar, and we can barely hear each other when we are talking because of the loud music (signs of ageing, I’m getting old for the scene, hahahaha), but we didn’t mind, we were having fun and dancing our Saturday night away.

After a good 3 hours, it was time to leave and get back to
our hotel. We made a quick stop at 711 and bought Spicy Korean Noodles and
cooked it in our kitchen (good thing we had one). After the quick snack,
everyone was ready to pass out and hit the bed.
Do not disturb |
For some reason, I always tend to wake up early when I’m not
at home, so around 8AM, I was already awake (slept around 5AM), and I had to
wake up the others because the breakfast buffet was only until 8:30AM. So we
hurried downstairs in our lounge wear and ate ( I guess the night of partying
worked our appetite). After breakfast, Karl and Raf decided to get more Zzzzz’s
while RJ and I changed and hit the pool.

Since we were allowed for a late check-out (because of some
minor inconvenience when checking in) we still had time to lay by the pool
after lunch and get some sun.

All in all, this overnight staycation was a busy one but
well worth it. Was able to spend good quality time with 2 sets of friends and
had a blast doing so.
Now, I’m looking for deals again for my next staycation.
Watch out for it here.
