My day trip to Macau
Part of my itinerary in Hong Kong was to visit the nearby Macau. Eds, RJ and I woke up early on a Sunday so that we'll be able to catch the first ferry headed out to Macau. It was a chilly morning although I though wearing a long sleeved shirt and an undershirt underneath was enough. We took the MTR and walked a couple of minutes to get to the China ferry terminal. It was still early but there were already a lot of people inside. Since we came in at around quarter to 7, we didn't make the 7AM ferry since you needed atleast 30 minutes prior to the departure to go through immigration and all. Inside the ferry, I was able to take an additional hour of sleep and when I woke up, Macau was already in the horizon. It was chilly in Hong Kong when we left but I didn't expect 11 degrees when we got to Macau. In front of the ferry terminal, there are hotel buses that you can ride going to the different hotels around Macau. We rode the bus going to The Venetian and after a few minutes we were already inside this beautiful hotel. First thing we did was to head out and see the Venice like interior of the hotel. The shops were still closed since it was still early when we got there. First order of business was to get some breakfast and we saw a familiar sign, we had breakfast at McDonalds. We spent a couple of hours inside the hotel, taking pictures and checking out the shops. It was also a nice relief from the cold weather outside. Eds even bought a jacket so that he'll be warm once we head out, good thing the jacket was on sale.
Next stop on our trip was to go to Senado Square. Since we didn't really know how to go there, we went to the taxi bay area and got one. The ride took about 15 minutes and we went down in front of an Esprit store so it was natural for us to go inside to check it out. Since Eds bought a jacket, I too decided to buy something to keep myself warm and ended up getting a large houndstooth print knit scarf and the good thing about it was it was 50% off. Not to be outdone, Eds also bought something. I was so happy that I can keep myself warm and already used it once we were outside the store. Right infront is Senado Square with its famous floor or black and white waves. We made our way through the crowd and took pictures as we were taking in the sights. The ruins of St. Paul is walking distance from the square and you'll be able to find it thanks to the many signs that direct you there. Also, you'll know since there's a crowd headed that was as well. You'll pass by a narrow street lined with different shops and from there you can already see the ruins.
It was just around 2PM and our ferry back to Hong Kong was still at 8PM so with nothing else to do, we decided to head back to the square and just walk around Macau to see more of the place. We didn't really know where to go since we didn't have a map so we just went to where our feet would take us. We were planning to go to the Macau tower but we were already happy to see a glimpse of it from afar.
With all the walking that we did, we ended up at the Wynn hotel. We stopped by outside and sat at the steps near the entrance to rest our feet, luckily it was time for the fountain show so we were able to watch the display. After that we headed inside to see the interior as well as keep warm. When we got inside, there was another show where this huge chandelier was coming down from the ceiling and this golden tree was coming out from the floor. When the tree came out, people threw in coins, so the three of us threw some as well.
Beside the Wynn was MGM so we also went inside to see. Once inside, we were already tired from all the walking that we decided to rest at their seating area. We already we saw we planned on seeing and even more so we decided to head back to the ferry terminal and go back to Hong Kong. It was just just around 5PM but we decided to just wait there. Once we were there, we asked if we can have ride an earlier trip and we were allowed to as chance passengers. We waited quite a while but was relieved when we got seats for the 6PM ferry. All in all, even though for a day, we were able to discover and see what Macau had to offer. We'll definitely go back there!

We took pics and stayed there for a while, roaming around the area, chatting, taking more pics and eventually ending up eating our lunch there. We tried the local burger with some milk tea, as well as some spicy beef balls. We even helped out a few of our kababayans who were also there taking pictures by offering to take their picture as a group.
