Team Building at Magalawa Island

Since its summer, the team decided to have a team building activity at Magalawa island in Zambales. Just like Anawangin, we contacted our guide Jherwyn who offers packages to Anawangin and Magalawa. Package includes transfers as well as accommodations (tents). The team left the office at 6:30 AM and we were on our way to Palauig the town where Magalawa island is located. After an hour or so on the road, we stopped by a gas station at NLEX for a bathroom break and to also stretch our muscles. After a few minutes, we were back on our way. We were supposed to be tired from a day of work but instead everyone was talking and having good time. After a few hours, we finally reached Subic but we were still far away from our destination. Everyone was getting hungry already and we were still waiting to reach Iba for us to be able to have lunch and do more palengke shopping for fresh fish before reaching the island. We reached Iba at around 12ish already and everyone was starving. We had lunch at Chowking which was located in a small mall. Everyone had the same thing in mind and most ordered halo halo to quench the heat. After lunch, some went to the market to get some fresh groceries while the rest wandered around inside the mini mall. After lunch, we were on our way again and soon enough, we made a left tun where a sign says Magalawa island. It was mostly rough road until we reached a small village and where our boat was waiting. From the port, it was a quick 10 - 15 minute boat ride to the island. Unlike Anawangin, the island had electricity, rooms that you can rent and a restaurant too. We however, roughed it and decided to camp. We were assigned our camp and we started to set-up camp. For 12 people, we had 3 tents, one that can accommodate up to 6 people.

After setting up camp, we got changed and prepared for an afternoon of team building activities. It was a good thing that there was a big space and with tall trees so it wasn't that hot. We played 3 games and after that we had a break to rest.

During the break, the group changed into their swim wear and decided to check out the beach. After soaking up the water, everyone was too lazy to start another activity so we just sat at the beach until it was time to cook dinner. At around 6PM, we started to cook our dinner. Dinner consisted of inihaw na bangus (since we didn't have foil, we directly cooked in the coals), and our pre-cooked adobo. everyone was so hungry that everyone was quiet during dinner but started to get rowdy again once everyone has had their fill. After dinner the group played some 1,2,3 pass and the punishment was getting coal on the face, meaning the one with the dirtiest face is the game's loser. After the game, the fun continued with some drinks by the beach, a lot of drinks. I on the other hand slept early since I was tired. I woke up around 2AM since I can still hear the group talking although this time around they were preparing to sleep already. Once everyone settled down, I went back to sleep since I was planning on waking up early for the sunrise. Hazel and I woke up around 5:30AM to take some pictures and do some swimming. the water was perfect, and there wasn't even a wave making it very still. Since it was earth day, we also picked up some trash that was washed away to keep he beach clean.

At around 7AM, we started cooking breakfast and after that, back to swimming. We cleaned up camp around 10AM already since at 11AM our boat will be there to pick us up and bring us back to the port. Just like before, we had lunch again at Iba, this time at Jollibee and after that we were on our way again back to Manila. This time around, it was faster, we were already in Manila at 6PM and ended where we started, at our office building. It was definitely a fun trip, although cut-short, we managed to make the most out of it.
